Huntress from CW Arrow

The Huntress finally made her appearance in her full outfit in the 7th and 8th episode of Arrow so here's the concept illustration I did for the show earlier this year.

The series ARROW and the character Huntress are properties of DC comics.

CW Arrow - DeathStroke

So the 5th episode of the CW tv show ARROW has aired and I figured it would be safe to post the costume illustration of the character Deathstroke which made his debut in the episode. The only thing that stayed true from the comic books is the mask and the rest of his outfit is more realistic military combat type outfit. The mask was already designed and made from their original teaser trailer of the whole series.

The series ARROW and the character DEATHSTROKE are properties of DC comics.

Girl vs Monster

Here are some illustrations I did earlier this year for a Disney channel tv movie called Girl vs Monster. It finally aired on TV so I figured I would share them here. I knew it was a disney family movie but it ended up being even lighter and younger as I was visualizing. I was picturing maybe its more like the live action Scooby Doo movies that the ghosts have more exaggerated features and have more sculpted prosthetics rather than straight up actors. Maybe they were too spooky for little kids? Anyways they were pretty fun to work on.

Arrow - Deathstroke and huntress

There was a new teaser trailer shown in NYCC last week for the new Arrow series on CW network. In the trailer you get a few quick shot of Deathstroke and a glimpse of the Huntress whose played by Jessica de Gouw but not in her costume. I got the chance to help conceptualize both of those characters, so that was pretty exciting. Maybe once those episode is aired, I can post the illustrations.......

Slugterra made its debut in US on Disney XD!

The show that I've been working on for the past year Slugterra has finally made its debut in US on Disney XD on Oct 15th. I was actually first involve in the project about 3 years ago when it was first being developed. Lots of sweat and blood went into this from my fellow nerds at Nerdcorps so check it out! Can't wait for the toys that are being made by Jakks Pacific and will be in store early next year. Can't show any pictures yet but all I can say is the little slugs look pretty cute.

M-O-N-S-T-E-R, monster monster yes we are!

The first ever Monster High DVD is finally released ! This is actually the 4th Monster High movie I have worked on but also is the last one that I worked on cause I moved to a new project. I believe they will release the first 3 in DVD as well.  I had lots of fun working on it but got to move on the new things sometimes! Good job to all my other fellow nerds and Nerdcorps who worked hard on it! So go check out the DVD and the popular dolls !

Its KNITTING TIME !!!! ( UPDATED and the wide screen version )

So after the inspection by the Supreme Knitter ( girlfriend ), she pointed out that I missed one of the key component of knitting called the cable. She said its fine but me being me, I must make sure its accurate so I added the cable back into the painting. I also posted the original widescreen format instead of the cropped one. I learned something new, maybe this little piece of info will come in handle to one of you some day.

Its KNITTING TIME !!!!

This started out as a label design for girlfriend's knitting projects because they usually have special instructions for how to take care of the products. She wanted caricature of her knitting and me doing something ( which is actually a pretty accurate visual of how most of our nights are like ). So of course it turned into a slightly bigger project than I thought........ I'm quite proud of myself for capturing my features like my few chin hair and belly !

Robot suits with good old markers!

These up some suits design i did for development. I was visioning these suits are not necessarily made out of metal but instead the material is more like a very durable and rubber that is just as strong and more flexible. The face on the suit is actually a displace screen that projects the pilot's face so it can actually be expressive. I really like these designs so i might clean them up when i have time, though i really miss using markers! I don't have too much time to play with markers these days, especially for work!

Frankie - The experiment of the experiment

I started this one awhile back to try out a more sculpted style on characters so I started a series of old school monster paintings but this is the only one I finished so far. I dug this one up from the abyss of unfinished art project when I started development for Monster High TV specials that are based on the popular dolls by Mattel which the main character's name is Frankie Stein.

Neighbours in the making

Just comped together the different stages of the Totoro painting. The sketch was just a doodle I did on the flight to San Diego comic con on my little sketch pad. The 3rd stage was when I forgot to save my file after 2 hours of work and the dog unplugged the power cord from my laptop, AND I couldn't see the power meter warning because my I made my photoshop fullscreen....... but its done!

First Encounter Updated

As sometimes happens, I took a look at this in the morning on my work computer and realized the colours weren't exactly how I wanted them to be.
Here's the updated version done with a better monitor.

First Encounter

Finally finished this Totoro piece after many late night coffee shop sessions not talking to my girlfriend across the table (sorry) and lost 3 hours of work one night because I didn't save my work before the dog pulled out the power cord without our detection. Now on to the next!

Blog Log

It was nice and sunny outside today, so my girlfriend Lisa suggested to go to the beach so I can draw and she can knit. We ended up at Iona beach in Richmond, B.C. and my first reaction was, I wish there are people here for me to draw..... So I found me a log to sketch while she was making fun of me the whole time for drawing a log. I think it was a beautiful log.
Drawn with pen and markers.
